How To Do the New Medifast Achieve Diet

You’re not alone.
Medifast is a proven diet that can help you take off pounds very fast (up to 5 pounds a week in your first 2 weeks!).
But it can seem a bit complicated for someone who has never tried the diet before.
Unlike diet delivery plans like Diet To Go or Bistro MD for example with Medifast you provide some of the meals yourself – and for others you have Medifast meal replacements. So it can seem confusing.
Not to worry, here’s a rundown of the Medifast diet rules to show you what to exect on the diet (Read our full review of the Medifast diet here).
Medifast Diet Rules (Medifast Achieve Plan)
#1 You Eat 6 Times Per Day
You have 6 small “meals” per day – every 2 – 3 hours.
Do not go longer than that without eating since you need to keep your metabolism up.
And, especially at first, you need to eat every 2 – 3 hours to make sure you don’t get too hungry and are then tempted to binge.
#2 You eat 4 Medifast Meals Per Day, 2 Lean and Green Meals and 1 Healthy Snack per day
The Medifast meals can be anything from a Medifast bar, shake, oatmeal or soup to the brownie, mac and cheese or pancakes.
There are over 70 Medifast meals you can choose from that have been fortified with the proper balance of protein, carbs and vitamins.
You can either provide the Lean and Green meals yourself (you do get instructions on what a Lean and Green meal consists of with your diet plan). Or you can order them with the Medifast Complete kit (or separately) from Medifast.
You provide the healthy snack yourself (like a piece of fruit, veggies, etc – again suggestions are provided in your start-up package).
#3 Medifast Meals Are Interchangeable
You can eat any of the Medifast meals in any order that you like. You can also eat your lean and green meals in any order that you like.
So for example, you can have a lean and green meal for breakfast and dinner – but have your Medifast meal for lunch.
Don’t have all of your Medifast meals at the same time – again eat every 2 – 3 hours. You should be eating 6 times per day (plus the snack).
#4 Add Condiments
You can add some condiments to your lean and green meal from the approved Medifast list in your starter kit.
Condiments include things like herbs and spices (basil, garlic, cinnamon, etc) and limited amounts of sauces (soy sauce, barbecue sauce, salad dressings, etc.)
#5 No Alcohol
Unfortunately this plan does not allow alcohol as that will take you out of your fat-burning state. Best to wait and savor that glass of wine after you’ve reached your goal!
So those are some of the Medifast diet rules. Again, you will get a full list of how to do the diet when you order your starter package. But hopefully this shows you that it’s not hard at all to do this diet. And the fast weight loss results are more than worth it!
