Diet To Go Review

Editor's Note: Diet To Go has recently changed their website and service. As a result of these changes we are not recommending them at this time.

A similar diet delivery service that also offers freshly prepared meals - and has been recommended by epicurious for best taste and nutrition - is eDiets Deliciously Yours

Diet To Go Review

Diet To Go offers freshly prepared diet meals delivered all over the United States including Hawaii and Alaska.

Menu plans are chosen based on the clients goals (to lose weight, to maintain a healthy lifestyle, etc.) and mostly based around low fat, low calorie menus.

So is the Diets To Go delivery service right for you? Here's a review to help you decide:

Delivers To: All Over U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska

Price Per Day: Prices range from $17 - $20 per day.

Current Specials: Free Meals For A Day with First Order - use coupon code freeday when ordering

Menu Variety: 5 week rotating menu

Plans Available:

Low Fat

Low Carb

Vegetarian

Prices vary based on how many meals you want per day (2 or 3), type of plan (low fat, low carb or vegetarian), how many days you want food delivered (5 or 7), how many weeks you order at one time (a longer order will save you some money), and how many calories a day your plan offers (1200 or 1600).

Generally prices range from $17 to $20 per day.

Program Review:

Diet To Go offers freshly prepared diet meals with no preservatives delivered all over the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska.

Meals are freshly prepared and then packed in dry ice, and shipped in a styrofoam cooler. Your food for an entire week will be shipped on the first Monday or Tuesday after you place your order. You should receive it in 2 to 3 days after.

If you're in the Washington, DC, Philadelphia or San Francisco area you can also pick up your food personally from a Diet-To-Go Centre.

How It Works:

You choose which type of plan you want - vegetarian, low carb or low fat. Then you choose the number of calories per day you want (1200 or 1600), you meal schedules (5 or 7 days) and if you want breakfast, lunch and dinner or just lunch and dinner.

You then get a price, open an account and order your meals.

If you're a type 2 diabetic, Diet-to-Go meals meet the standards of the American Diabetic Association, and are well balanced with an adequate amount of carbohydrates and protein with each meal. However, there's also the low-carb plan for even tighter carb/sugar control.

Menu Examples:

  • Waffles with Apples and Peaches in Light Syrup
  • Chicken Parmesan Dinner, Roll, Broccoli
  • Western Omelet with Fajita Veggies, Sausage Links
  • Baked Turkey Cutlet in Curry Sauce, Onions & Peppers, Cauliflower

Editor's Conclusion: Not Recommended

While Diet To Go does make meals fresh, and also offers different program options like low carb, low fat and vegetarian options, we probably would not choose them over similar services like eDiets Deliciously Yours or Bistro MD.

These services also prepare food fresh with no preservatives, but have been rated highly on meal taste as well.
